Off all the Nintendo DS rumors we’ve heard so far, this one looks more plausible provided the developers Rpad talked to weren’t fooling around. Rpad.tv was on a quest at the GDC show for details on upcoming DS successor and here is what they found.
Expectedly, the new DS will sport a bigger screen with a high resolution. However, the differential factor between the current gen and the next DS will be the gap between two screens, which is said to be very less. This if true, could open a whole new stream of possibilities like using it as one big display or even transform it into a e-book reader (which Nintendo is already trying to do with DSi XL).
Another interesting thing is that the dev kits used to develop games on new DS is as powerful as GameCube. We’re not sure if it means that Tegra is on board but developers claim creating games isn’t difficult.
Other info that made its way out is the integration of an accelerometer and the first games are expected to complete by end of this year, which means a new DS showcase at E3 is on the cards.
