UPDATE: Samsung also plans to delay N510’s launch until Windows 7. Lenovo still has a chance to sell its ION netbook first.
Lenovo was the first company to unveil its ION powered S12 netbook but it looks like they won’t be the first to sell it. Though VIA Nano powered S12s are already selling in the market, the word from the company about ION based S12 is that it will be shipped at the end of October for about $550. S12 was originally planned with Vista but will be delayed so as to coincide with the launch of Windows 7.
It’s an interesting decision on Lenovo’s part because by the time their ‘first’ ION netbook comes into the market, other players must have jumped onto the bandwagon. Gizmodo says HP is planning to release its ION computer in the coming weeks and there’s Samsung too, whose N510 is ready to roll out next month. Of course, it will be $50 more than what Lenovo will offer but that shouldn’t be a problem for early adopters.
