Look, what has surfaced in one of the buzzing Chinese forums. These photos apparently represent a prototype of the third gen iPod Touch that will have a camera. We’re not vouching for these shots but hope it is the real deal.

It could just be a pre-released knock-off, not the real thing, yet a possibly accurate one.

This must be the real deal.

Many rumors have said that it will have a camera, which it does. Other rumors have said that there will be a 16GB, 32GB and a 64GB (Obviously apple want to test the lowest first) in these photos the 16GB is shown (maybe a scam). Other rumors said that there will be black and white backing maybe also chrome, this may be true but apple probably used chrome to save money yet again if black and white are going to be released. I see no phone, compass (i think needs 3G connection), messages or anything like that which an iPhone 3G and 3GS etc has.

So i think this is true. Anyone got an idea about the release date in September? School starts at 9th September again and my birthday is in Mid October so it would be cool to know when.

It’s fake. If you look at the dock, you see reflections. That’s only avaliable on Jailbreak. Plus, the black “dot” is simply a sharpie drawn on the back of an iPod Touch 2g. You can also simply bookmark a webpage named camera and use that icon.

I hope it is real. I would love to see an iPod Touch with a camera for those of us who can’t afford the iPhone, and feel lowly having a camera-less iPod. The Chinese have a knock-off of the iPhone, so it’s always possible that this is a carefully constructed knock-off with a fake camera in it. The are equal chances for it to be real or fake. I would love an iPod with a camera, and with a higher capacity. To counter one of the other posts, the reflections on the dock could be Apple’s way of making it look nicer, instead of that boring metallic background. Also, I feel that the camera’s position is a bit odd, I would expect it to be in the opposite corner, rather than the center, to mirror the iPhone, who knows, it may be the sign of a rip-off.

Also, the icon for “Clock” has a different hour and minute hand position than the standard icon on the iPods, which is set to 10:15. The position seems to be synced to the actual time, once again, a sign of a knock-off, or a little improvement to be more efficient.

If this isn’t real, Apple should listen up and start thinking of making it, and quickly. I’m getting impatient!

THIS IS COMPLETELY FAKE!!! I have a second generation iPod touch with the same camera app. I just bookmarked a website with a picture of tge app and named it camera. I also got the phone, SMS, and compass. They don’t work ofcourse, they’re just bookmarks. The “camera on the back was drawn on probably. And the dock reflections? There’s not a 3g iPod jailbreak yet, so howed he get this? FAKE!

this was easily solved for me, look at the appstore icon, has an update icon. and from what i see it has no downloaded apps. except maybe the voicememo & from when i last checked the ipod touch has no microphone just a poorly constructed speaker.
