To provide more options to its customers for iPhone repairs, Apple has announced a new repair program wherein Apple customers can get their out-of-warranty iPhones serviced or repaired from third-party repair providers. Apple will provide more independent repair vendors, with the same genuine parts, tools, training, repair manuals and diagnostics as its Apple Authorised Service Providers (AASPs). The program is launching in the US with plans to expand to other countries. This means a battery replacement or another minor issue of your iPhone can now be addressed by these independent repair professionals.
“To better meet our customers’ needs, we’re making it easier for independent providers across the US to tap into the same resources as our Apple Authorised Service Provider network,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer. “When a repair is needed, a customer should have confidence the repair is done right. We believe the safest and most reliable repair is one handled by a trained technician using genuine parts that have been properly engineered and rigorously tested.”
Apple does not charge anything for enrolling into the independent repair program. Even independent repair providers can join the certification program to learn to repair the iPhones. Once certified, independent repair businesses can get access to Apple-genuine parts, tools, training, repair manuals, and diagnostics at the same cost as AASPs.
