As smartphones get more powerful day-by-day, OS on the other side also gets beefy with more security features, visual appeals and other cosmetic updates. that the fastest smartphone suddenly feels slow. Since Android is an Open Source OS, many phone manufacturers use it without optimising the same for their hardware. Unlike Apple devices that use their own hardware and software for excellent optimisation.
Problem with entry-level phone arises where the software seems too heavy on the hardware to execute tasks. Android Oreo GO is designed especially for entry-level smartphones. The Go apps have smaller storage sizes as compared to regular apps, hence they occupy less storage space in the phone. The security app works in off-line mode as well.
The Android Go edition was first announced as a project earlier this year at the Google I/O. It is not releasing with the Android 8.1. Android Oreo devices with 512MB to 1GB of memory will come with the all the Go optimizations.
