Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor will make its way to many mobile devices in the first half of 2017 but this time, the chip will also find home into non-mobile devices. Take these ODG smartglasses, for instance.
ODG has managed to cram in the 10nm Snapdragon 835, allowing the R-8 and R-9 VR/AR smartglasses to work on its own. The R-8 is a more practical and consumer-centric version with a 40-degree field of view while the R-9 tries to with the consumer early adopter with a bigger form factor and 50-degree field of view.
Apart from that, both look and perform similarly, which means it supports 4K playback at 60fps, USB Type-C support and more.
We don’t know the exact price of these smartglasses but ODG expects to sell them sometime later this year, when majority of Snapdragon 835 devices go on sale.
