Sony has confirmed that the sales of PS3 has crossed 80 million units globally as of November 2, 2013. The PS3 is currently in its seventh year and has showed good momentum despite Sony announcing the PS4 earlier this year and will hit the retail shelves in the US next week.
The strong sales of PS3 could be attributed to the software support, the console has got and Sony claims the total number of titles available for the platform will reach 4,332, including 300 titles that will be launched globally this holiday season.
The PS3 has gone through many iterations over the years, including colour options and a variant with 12GB flash storage to make the console more affordable.
