In addition to Android 4.3 and the new Nexus 7, Google also unveiled a new gadget that would make streaming online content from your smartphone or a tablet easier to TV. Dubbed as Chromecast, it’s basically a plug and play HDMI dongle that has to be plugged into the TV and with the help of a Cast button present in the supported app, users can stream the content to a larger-sized display.
Currently, apps like YouTube, Netflix, Google Play Movies & TV, Google Play Music, Pandora (coming soon) will be able to take the advantage of Chromecast and will even work with devices running on iOS, Mac or Windows.
Developers can even integrate the Google Cast technology into their app with the new Google Cast SDK.
As for the Chromecast, Google is now taking orders for the device and it sells $35 a pop and is bundling three months of free Netflix subscription.
