The design team of various Google products seem to be very busy off late. First came the Google+ makeover and now the company has announced a design overhaul of the Gmail service, both on desktop as well as mobile.
Google says the new design aims to put user “back in control” and if you’re accessing the Gmail from the desktop, you’ll be able to sort the mails in various groups like Primary, Social, Promotions etc. and it will appear as different tabs. It seems nifty and will hopefully allow managing the inbox in a more organised way.
However, if you access Gmail from the Android or the iOS app, the emails will still be segregated similarly like the desktop app but the default will be the Primary group.
Google will be rolling out the new interface in the coming days.
