Samsung’s Stephen Woo addressed the last keynote at the CES today and unravelled the upcoming Exynos processor. Known as the Exynos 5 Octa, it is an eight-core system-on-chip (SoC) for high-end mobile devices. The processor is stacked with four cores of ARM Cortex-A7 and four cores for Cortex-A15 and utilises big.LITTLE technology that gives the best of performance and battery life.
The A7 core will handle light processing tasks whereas A15 will be responsible for handling heavy intensive tasks like gaming. Samsung says the new chip gives double the performance while reducing power consumption by less than 70 percent.
