Google promised to improve the Play Store experience by adding number of features at the Google I/O and now they’ve started delivering at least on one front – Smart App (delta) updates. For the uninitiated, any app update shown on the store required the app to be downloaded fully but with delta updates, the app will now only download the update portion of the app that has been changed or improved. This enables lesser consumption of bandwidth for both users as well as operators.
Delta updates for apps should work if your device possesses Play Store v3.7.15 and upwards.
