Bluetooth SIG, the organization behind Bluetooth technology has announced to extend its brand with two new logos recognizing devices powered by Bluetooth 4.0 technology. In a bid to create consumer awareness, Bluetooth 4.0 embedded devices will be identified as Bluetooth Smart Ready or just Bluetooth Ready devices.
The differentiation in both the brandings will be that Bluetooth Smart Ready will be devices like phones, tablets, PCs etc. that feature Bluetooth 4.0 dual mode radio and can connect to other Bluetooth devices whereas Bluetooth Smart devices will be sensor-type devices like heart-rate monitors that were built to collect specific piece of information and come with single-mode low energy Bluetooth 4.0 radio.
To give a little perspective, iPhone 4S will be a Bluetooth Smart Ready device.
