Google had promised to launch Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS in Q4 of this year and it seems they’ll deliver right on time. Google’s former CEO, Eric Schmidt confirmed that they’re trying to release the new OS sometime in October or November.
“We have a new operating system, internally known as Ice Cream Sandwich for some reason, which is being released in October/November, which everyone’s really excited about.”
Major Android OS releases are complemented with a new Nexus device and it seems the handset of choice with ICS will be Nexus Prime, which will be developed by Samsung.
To rehash, ICS will club the elements from the phone-specific and tablet-specific OS into one and will come with features like resizable status bar, face-tracking camera, camera focus as per voice recognition etc.

Ok here is my naive question, I have never owned an android so bare with me. I am going to wait for the Samsung Galaxy S2 for AT&T. That is like the perfect phone. Anyway, Ice Cream sandwich is most likely coming this year. Can I update from Android 2.3 to 4.0 like that with OTA updates? Simple question, but I am honestly not sure. I wouldnt want to miss out on a new version of Android, but I love that phone…

What are the diffent between honeycomb and gingerbread? Cause I want to buy android tablet and there is 2 version android honeycomb and gingerbread..
^ is there anything Like apple jailbreak and download application for free on android.
Kunal Gangar says
Honeycomb is Android 3.x and Gingerbread is Android 2.3.x version. Honeycomb, understandably is the superior version and a tablet with Honeycomb OS is more likely to get a free upgrade to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
There’s nothing as jailbreak as Android does not require one. You can directly install .apk files. However, you can root your device (known as rooting) that enables a Superuser access to the device allowing to backup, restore apps and do more.
