Google has officially announced the availability of Number Porting to their Voice service. Users who want to use their long-time phone numbers as their Google Voice number can do so now by paying a porting charge of $20.
Google says the porting is generally completed within 24 hours and although it will allow users to ring any phone they want via the Voice service, a user will still need a mobile service plan to work.
