Sony has been playing a cat and mouse game to prevent hackers from jailbreaking the PS3 console. But at the Chaos Communication Congress event in Berlin hackers have proved that they’ll have an upper hand in this battle. A team called failed0verflow has managed to break the PS3 security by calculating the public private keys that not only allows dongle-less jailbreaking but will also allow hackers to sign their own apps to run on the PS3 console.
The team describes it as an “epic fail” on Sony’s part because fixing this loophole won’t be easy.
The team has promised to release some easy to use tools next month.
