Indian government has set the deadline for Research in Motion to address Blackberry security issue. RIM has got till the end of this month or precisely till August 31 to come with a solution that will enable Indian security agency to monitor Blackberry messages or face disconnection.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, security agency, cellular operators and a RIM exec met today but the meeting remained “inconclusive.”
RIM last week, had offered to share user’s metadata but the security agency turned it down.
Indian Govt.’s decision to set a deadline could be inspired from Saudi Arabia, who banned Blackberry services for a brief time and forced RIM to give access to Saudi’s security agency.
