SD cards with wireless capability are synonymous to Eye-fi cards but Toshiba is also set out to create and market similar functionality SD cards with the establishment of a forum named, Standard Promotion Forum for Memory Cards Embedding Wireless LAN. the forum is jointly founded by Toshiba and Singapore-based Trek 2000 Int. Ltd.
The cards will be able to bring in non-Wi-Fi equipped digital cameras so as to share photos with other digital cameras or upload to an online server, for instance
a photo sharing site.
Initially, Toshiba and Trek will invite digital camera manufacturers to the forum where they’ll create an 8GB SDHC card equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and able to transfer JPG and RAW images.
