Sony will be diving into the soon-to-explode 3D LCD TV market. They’ve confirmed to launch their first 3D TVs in June where it will be gracing retail shelves worldwide. Sony is planning to launch 40-inch and 46-inch models priced at 290,000 ($3,225) yen and 350,000 yen ($3,875) respectively and will bundle two pairs of 3D glasses.
Sony seems bullish on the 3D TV market and expects to sell about 2.5m units in the coming financial year. Also, positive reception of 3D technology means Sony can pitch their various other 3D-enabled products like PS3, Blu-ray players, cameras etc.
Samsung has already started selling their 3D LED TVs in South Korea with global debut expected this month whereas Panasonic’s offerings will be up for sale in United States from tomorrow.
