Sony’s pre IFA conference is scheduled for today and Financial Times claims that Sony’s conference will include a mention of bringing 3D TVs to the retail market. Sir Howard Stringer will announce Sony’s plans to bring 3D TVs by end of 2010 and also launch other 3D technology compatible products like VAIO PCs, PS3 and Blu-ray players. Interestingly, FT has also quoted Stringer which he is expected to make at the conference.
“As with high definition a few years back, there are a variety of issues yet to be addressed. But the 3D train is on the track, and we at Sony are ready to drive it home.”
Sony 3D TVs will make use of active shutter technology that uses electronic glasses with tiny shutters that continuously open and close so as to create a 3D impression.
3D Tvs UK says
Thanks for the post, 3D TVs are the future! The games are going to be really good but the downfall is people with eye problems may not be able to see the 3 dimensions and also cost factor. Can’t wait to see the 3D Tvs in action.
