Nokia declared its Q1 2009 results today and though the company is facing a decline in profits as well as shrinking device shipment, its first mass market touch phone did exceptionally well. Nokia has managed to shift 2.6m 5800XM units in this quarter with over 3m since its launch. There’s no doubt that 5800’s price competitiveness did the trick by offering high-end features in an affordable package.
As for the results, Nokia’s net sales stood at EUR9.3 billion, down 27% YoY; device and service sales also went down by 33% on a year on year basis at EUR6.2 billion and the total shipment for the quarter was 93.2 million units, down again at 19% YoY.
