The skirmish between MS and TomTom didn’t last long. Microsoft first sued TomTom, on which TomTom countersued on the same grounds of patent infringement. Now both the companies have announced that they have reached a patent agreement which will enable them to use each other’s patents in a ‘pragmatic’ way.
The agreement holds for five years in which TomTom will pay MS for coverage under eight car navigation and file management systems patents while MS will receive coverage under TomTom’s four other patents without any payment.
