Last week was a bit unusual for some Nintendo WFC users. They were barred by Nintendo for accessing the WFC and encountered an error: 20102. According to Nintendo, this error means “some type of unauthorized activity has occured in an online feature of a Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection game.”

The users were quick enough albeit irresponsibly to point that the ban was a result of the Homebrew channel installed. However, Marcan from Hackmii puts this rumor to rest as HBC works fine with the WFC. In fact, it’s the cheaters who are being banned from the online gameplay. Nintendo is apparently tracking users cheating online and in a fair sense to legit gamers, are banning users cheating in the online mode.

If you’ve encountered with the same error, there are a few tips to get back to the WFC.

1. Re-format your system. This will get you a new Wii ID and unbanned, but it will erase everything and you will not be able to use your old saves anymore. You have to start with new FCs.
2. Wait. It is assumed that this is a 1st-time warning from Nintendo, you will be unbanned soon.
3. Call Nintendo. I’ve heard of a lot of hackers calling Nintendo and discussing about unbanning them if they behave in the future.
