
Sandisk unveils a Solid State Disk (SSD) at Computex 2007 which takes all the conventional hard drives a run for their money. The new SSDs with SATA interface is not that big in terms of storage space but come on 64GB is competitive enough if you consider other positives of the SSDs. As said many times before, SSDs don’t have any moving parts so it can access data faster than the magnetic disks and are also cost effective. Sandisk claims that their SSD can load the Enterprise version of Windows Vista in just 30 seconds, has a file access rate of 0.11 milliseconds and consumes only 1.0W of power compared to HDDs which take 2.4W.
