Fujitsu, Japan releases two new notebooks, FMV-B8230 and FMV-Q8230 which has flash memory option instead of the conventional hard disks. The FMV-Q8230 has an option of selecting a 16GB or 32GB of flash memory or a regular 20GB HDD. It has a 12.1″ LCD screen, powered by an Intel Core Solo U1400 (1.20GHz), 1GB RAM, Intel 945GMS Express chipset and comes loaded with Windows XP Professional. Other features included are 2 USB ports, IEEE 1394, Type2 PC card slot, SD card slot, LAN and an option to embed a fingerprint sensor for added protection. The running time is 2 hours and weighs just under a kilogram.
FMV-B8230 is also a 12.1″ with an option to select a hard disk or flash memory. The basic configuration of this laptop is that it has Intel Celeron M 423 (1.06GHz), 512MB RAM, Intel 940GML Express chipset and again comes loaded with Windows XP Professional. This smaller config does not have a flash disk but has a 40GB HDD. Again it has 2 USB 2.0 ports, Type2 PC card slot, compact flash card slot, LAN and internal encryption. The whole thing weighs 1.25kg and runs for around 4.7 hours.
