Apple at an event today in San Francisco announced two new iPhones. The first one is the iPhone 5c that will take the helm from the iPhone 5, which has now been discontinued. The iPhone 5c’s USP is the choice of five colours – blue, green, pink, yellow and white to make the iPhone more trendy and colourful.
The iPhone 5c is basically an iPhone 5 but swaps the metallic shell for a cheaper polycarbonate body with a steel reinforced frame. Internally, the iPhone 5c is powered by the Apple A6 processor, 4-inch Retina Display, 8MP iSight camera, improved FaceTime camera, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and up to 10 hours of talk time on 3G.
iPhone 5c customers will also get Apple’s suite of apps like iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers and Keynote for free.
Customers can pre-order the iPhone 5c from September 13 and will go on sale on September 20 for $99 for 16GB and $199 for 32GB on contract. The unlocked and contract-free price of the device is $549 and $649 for 16GB and 32GB respectively.
Apple will release the iPhone 5c in US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK on the 20th.
