Bloomberg yesterday cited an analyst from iSuppli claiming Samsung as the sole supplier of retina display panels for Apple’s new iPad. However, Reuters has confirmed with a source that LG Display is still in the suppliers list.
“LG is also in a panel supply deal with Samsung for the new iPad,” said the source.
Yesterday’s report claimed Samsung was the preferred display maker against LG Display and Sharp because the latter two couldn’t meet Apple’s quality requirements.
Apple’s new iPad will go on sale from March 16 sporting a high-resolution retina display and A5X CPU with quad-core graphics.
