It’s early Christmas for the Redmond-based software maker. Microsoft, who was fighting a lost browser battle with the EU Commission for about a decade has finally come to an end. The commission has dropped the antitrust charges and in return Microsoft will offer a browser Choice Screen amongst all OSes (XP, Vista and 7) that will be sold in Europe.
The browser Choice Screen is legally binding on MS for at least 5 years and will offer choices of 12 popular browsers, including Chrome, Opera, Safari and Firefox.
Till date, Microsoft has paid up to 1.68 billion euro ($2.44 billion) for infringing EU antitrust rules.
