Dell’s super sexy Latitude Z has got the much needed official acknowledgement. The first Latitude Z notebook, the Z600 is expectedly targeted at businessmen who demand distinct style along with the speed. Half inch thick and weighs 4.5 pounds, the Latitude Z600 takes the crown of being the lightest and thinnest 16-inch notebook.

On the specs front, it is powered by Core 2 Duo processor, HD capable (1600×900) LED backlit display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and 2MP auto focus camera that is also capable to scan business cards etc.

More interesting things the laptop includes is the support for wireless docking of peripherals, wireless inductive charging and Latitude ON, which is like a computer within a computer. To put it simply, Latitude ON integrates an ARM processor (OMAP 3430) that runs a slimmed down version of Linux and always-on Firefox. It substitutes the Instant On OSes that we find in other notebooks.

The Latitude Z is available today in US, Canada and in selected European and Asian countries. The pricing starts from $1,999.

Dell’s Z600 from the Latitude-Z Series has been leaked, thanks to a member from Notebookreview forums. The official specs are still hard to come by but few forum members have chimed in to give us some insight. The ultra-thin 15-inch notebook sports a two-tone finish, powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processors and will run Windows Vista. To maintain its slim form factor, Dell has integrated ports on the notebook hinge akin to Acer’s slim netbook (check the third pic revealing the Ethernet port).

Amongst other things, it has a DisplayPort, chiclet-like keyboard, webcam and facial recognition. The notebook is expected to be official in a few weeks.
