Microsoft has announced to bring Xbox LIVE to Windows Phone 7 devices. The gaming service will run out-of-the-box when first Windows Phone 7 hits before holiday season. In addition to huge number of titles announced for the launch, Xbox LIVE on WP7 will bring additional features like tracking achievements, Gamerscore, create Avatars, access to Spotlight feeds, trial demos and multiplayer gaming with other WP7 phones as well as PCs.

Microsoft has let loose details of the next Xbox Live update that will be delivered in ‘waves’ soon. The updates bring interesting features and improvements like Netflix with Movie Parties – allowing XBL Gold members to share movies with other members irrespective of the location, Games on Demand that will enable users to buy and download games, user ratings, marketplace to jazz up your avatars and other minor changes.

Microsoft also said these updates are just the beginning. Future XBL updates will bring support for Facebook, Twitter, Zune Video, 1080p Instant On and Last.fm.

Xbox 360 sales have surpassed more than 30 million units globally, said Microsoft yesterday. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 numbers are still way behind Wii but is ahead of PS3, who saw a sale of around 23 million units until the end of March.

MS is also elated about the fact that their thriving Xbox LIVE community has now more than 20 million active members. Xbox 360’s New Xbox Experience is the reason why the activity has increased since its launch. They have recorded an increase of more than 136 percent in members.

The console figures could see a further surge if Microsoft launches the rumored motion sensing controller at E3.
