Sony has introduced a new set of Walkman players for the European region. First up is the NWZ-W260 aimed at consumers with active lifestyle. The wire-free music player is water resistant and employs fast charging feature that allows to play up to 60 minutes of music on just 3 minutes of charging. Additionally it has ZAPPIN search technology that plays a chorus of a song to identify the song quickly. It will launch by end of next month.

Moving up the ladder is NWZ-E460, which is similar to previous generation but is more colorful in design. E460 is ideal for first time PMP users that comes with video support and Clear Audio technology for excellent Walkman sound.

The NWZ-S760 cranks up a notch by offering wireless music with the help of an integrated Bluetooth. It bundles with EX series headphones but you can pair it and play with any other Bluetooth headset.

Finally the top end of the lot — NWZ-A860. It bears a more premium look and comes with a 2.8-inch touchscreen display. On the music front, the A860 is loaded with five Clear Audio technologies, S-Master MX Digital Amplifier to reduce noise levels and distortions.

Sony has pushed out yet another entry-level music player in the Indian market. The E363 Walkman may not offer you a choice of apps or allow you to surf the web like the high-end music players but is created to allow you to enjoy high-quality music. The compact music player comes with Sony’s clear audio technology along with Sony’s SensMe and Karaoke function.

Additionally, the E363 features an improved UI, a 2-inch display, drag and drop interface to copy content, FM Tuner, Voice recording and support for codecs like MP3, AAC, WMA, L-PCM and WMV.

The player will have 4GB of storage and is priced at Rs.4,990.

Sony Ericsson’s Yendo that got leakedhas got the official treatment. However, unlike the rumor said about Android, Yendo does not run on Android but features corner touch UI that is found on Xperia X10 mini and Xperia X10 mini pro.

Yendo is the first touchscreen device from Sony Ericsson to come with Walkman player that promises to give good audio experience along with Touch TrackID, MediaGo and PlayNow.

Other than that, the phone features a 2.6-inch touchscreen display (320×240), 720MHz CPU, 2MP camera, FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth, social networking sites support and more.

It will be available in Q3 in variety of colors ten different colors — Black, Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, Silver, White and Yellow.

Sony India has announced two new additions to its W and B Series Walkman players. The W250 audio players are similar to the previous W Series wire-free Walkman player but this time it protects from water and is washable. Other than that, NWZ-W250 features ZAPPIN search function, 11 hours of continuous playback and quick charge function that gives 90 minutes of playback in just 3 minutes. The NWZ-W250 will come in Black, White, Pink and goes for Rs. 4,990.

The B150 is an entry-level Walkman player who wants to enjoy Walkman music quality on the cheap. Starting at just Rs. 2,890, the player features a one-touch Bass Enhancer, FM Radio, voice and FM recording, ZAPPIN search and quick charge support. On a full charge, it promises to give up to 19 hours of playback. It will be available in Black, Pink, Gold, Red color options.

Sony’s recently unveiled Walkman W250 audio players have made their way to Japan and to commemorate the launch, they’ve announced a Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker special edition of the player. The NWD-W253 (4GB) is an IPX5 certified waterproof player and comes with a unique MGS design and six pre-installed songs from game’s official soundtrack.

Other than that, the wire-free Walkman has ZAPPIN tech to allow easy searching, a quick charge feature to play up to 90 minutes on a 3 minute recharge, 11 hours of playback and support to copy non-DRMed songs from your iTunes library.

This limited edition player will be available from May 22 for $130, about $20 more than the stock version.

Sony has expanded its Walkman phone range with the Zylo and Spiro slider phones. The phones offer Walkman sound quality and also come with social networking features to please the socially active consumers. The Zylo’s music prowess includes high definition FLAC support, TrackID, PlayNow and more. Completing the specs sheet are the 2.6-inch QVGA TFT display, Bluetooth, 3.2MP camera, geo-tagging, 3D games, FM Radio with RDS and microSD card slot (up to 16GB).

The Spiro is not superior as Zylo but does come with a Walkman player, TrackID and PlayNow. Its remaining features include 2.2-inch QVGA TFT display, 2MP camera, FM Radio with RDS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack and microSD card slot.

The W252 (2GB) and W253 (4GB) enables users to exercise without worrying about water and sweat getting into the player. Additionally, the wire-free W250 Walkman features ZAPPIN technology that plays a part from the song to enable easy searching, up to 11 hours playback, Quick Charge allowing users to give up to 90 mins of playback on a 3 min recharge and Content Transfer software to copy your songs from your iTunes library. The NWZ-W250 series will arrive in late May in black, silver, pink and green.

The B150 on the other hand, will give users Walkman’s superior sound quality at an affordable price. The new B Series Walkman now adds a button to provide an instant bass boost. Other than that, the player is more or less the same as previous B Series Walkman with a small 3 line LCD, ZAPPIN song search, FM Radio, voice and FM recorder, Quick charge and 18 hours of music playback.

It will be available in early June in black, blue, pink and red.

We didn’t have any doubts about Mickey Mouse insipiration for Sony’s S-Series Walkman players but I guess that was not enough as Sony has strengthened its affiliation further by offering engraving of Mickey and Minnie Mouse to Japanese S-Series (S640/S640K/S740/S740K) buyers. The cartoon engraving can be coupled with a personalized message imprinted on the back.

Additionally, Sony will also offer fun designed clear cases that will discreetly show the player’s engraving and a limited edition Mickey Mouse stand.

Whenever a new PMP comes to the market it is more than often compared with the iPod range. Although this holds true that iPods have created the portable music and video revolution, but there are other PMPs that also offer good sound and video.

Sony introduced a trio of Walkman players yesterday in Japan. It’s the S640 and S740 from the S-Series and super thin A840 from the A-Series. The S640 and S740 are similar in features except for couple of facts like S740 comes in 8GB/16GB/32GB storage choices as compared to S640’s 8 and 16GB SKUs and S740 features noise cancellation while S640 has ambient noise filtration. Both the players come in multitude of colors and features a 2-inch LCD, FM Radio, 720×480 playback via video-out, MDR-EX300SL earphones and about 42 hours of music or 7 hours of video playback.

The new S-Series players will arrive next month with prices starting from 16,000 Yen ($155) to 25,000 Yen ($277).

Moving onto the higher side, there’s A840 PMP, Sony’s thinnest Walkman till date. Measuring 7.2mm thick, the A840 PMP packs a 2.8-inch OLED screen, digital noise cancellation, MDR-EX300SL earphones, FM Radio, 720×480 video out and storage options ranging from 16GB to 64GB. The A840 PMP promises to give up to 29 hours of audio playback and 9 hours of video. Releasing on October 31 with prices starting from 24,000 Yen ($263) to 40,000 Yen ($439).
