Fat PS3 owners can snag the latest firmware release from the System Update menu. As previewed at the Gamescom couple of weeks back, the PS3 v3.0 firmware packs some new additions like replacing the Info Board with ‘What’s New’ section, revamped XMB, dynamic avatars, PS Store shortcuts under each menu (Games, Videos etc.) so it takes to the exact category in the store when clicked and more.

PS3 Firmware v3.0

 

The PS3 firmware v3.0 might not be as fancy as the rumored one but the new improvements do enhance user’s PS3 experience. Amongst the changes, the XMB has been given some cosmetic changes, PlayStation Store shortcuts have been added under Games and Videos categories, dynamic themes, avatars, revamped Friends list and What’s New section replacing the old Information Board.
