HP yesterday introduced Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web printer that claims to be the world’s first web-connected home printer. The printer is aimed at households who are connected 24×7 and would want to consume news, print the maps from Google Maps or buy tickets from Fandango right from their printer.

If the concept is still a mystery to you, the HP printer is preinstalled with different HP apps which can be used from its 4.3-inch touchscreen display. A user can quickly access and print from different services or download new ones from the HP Apps Studio. HP is also planning to share the APIs so that developers can create new apps for the printer.

Regarding the price, it costs $399 which is on the heavier side for an average household but now swap a family with a commercial entity who can put this to a multiple of uses (for instance kiosks), the price seems worth it.

HP has brought a multi-touch enabled laptop to the fray. The 12.1-inch TouchSmart tx2 notebook sports a capacitive touchscreen enabling the user to perform gestures like pinch, rotate, arc, flick, press and drag and single and double tap. The notebook also comes with a rechargeable digital ink pen.

Tx2 runs Windows Vista with a base configuration of 2.1GHz AMD Turion processor, ATI Radeon HD 3200 GPU, 3GB RAM and 250GB HDD. It also has a webcam, Wi-Fi, Altec Lansing speakers and an 8X DVD burner. Pricing for the laptop starts from $1150 and goes up to $2270 that includes a 2.4GHz AMD Turion, 8GB RAM, 400GB hard drive and a LightScribe DVD burner.
