Dell’s latest entrant in the world of notebooks is its 14-inch Studio 14z. Dell’s taken away the not-much-used-but-important optical drive for a svelte design. The thinnest part of Studio 14z measures just over 20mm and the thickest around 30mm. However, good thing about the notebook is that it does not compromise on performance just to maintain an anorexic figure.

The specs include options of 14-inch 16:9 LED backlit display with HD resolution (720p/900p), options of Intel Core 2 Duo processors, up to 5GB of RAM and 500GB HDD, GeForce 9400M GPU, HDMI/DisplayPort, Wi-Fi, 1.3MP webcam, eSATA, facial recognition, optional card reader and Bluetooth, 6-cell battery and Phoenix’s FailSafe AntiTheft solution.

The pricing starts from $649 and Dell will be selling in six colors – Black Chain Link, Midnight Blue, Spring Green, Plum Purple, Ruby Red and Promise Pink (U.S. only). The Pink color is limited to US because for each Pink 14z sold, Dell will donate $5 Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

UPDATE: Studio One 19 will be available from March 19 in retail outlets in Japan and online from March 23 via Dell Japan. US and other countries will get it from this spring with a starting price of $699.

Dell has announced Studio 19, an all-in-one machine that will reach the Japanese market first. Unlike most of the AIOs we are seeing off late, this one packs a punch and is priced heftily too.
The base model price starts from $1,554 which gives Core 2 Duo E7500 (2.93GHz), a 500GB hard drive, 4GB of RAM, a GeForce 9400 and a DVD drive with Windows Vista 64-bit and Office 2007.
