It’s curtains for Nokia’s Ovi Music Unlimited service in 27 countries. Few countries that Nokia will continue to sell devices bundled with the the yearly unlimited music service will be China, India and Indonesia whereas Brazil, Turkey and South Africa consumers will enjoy 6-months subscription service.

Ovi Music Unlimited was Nokia’s way to give consumers a year-full of legit music from labels like Vivendi’s Universal Music, EMI, Warner Music Group and Sony Music.

The service was touted as an iTunes challenger but has been crippled due to one major reason – DRM. The songs were DRMed, which means it won’t work on any other device than Nokia and is restricted to a single PC and Nokia phone at one time.

Good thing is that Nokia acknowledges this fact and has confirmed to add DRM-free music to its store but the bad thing is a similar service with DRM-free music won’t come anytime soon.

For users who are using the unlimited music service will be able to continue the service until their subscription runs out.

Nokia today announced the launch of Comes with Music service in the world’s biggest mobile market. The all-you-can download service will be known as Yue Sui Xiang in China and though rest of the markets have DRM-ed access to the service, Chinese users will get DRM-free music, allowing them to download and play unlimited legal music on number of devices.

The initial phones that will take advantage of the service will be Nokia X6 32GB and Nokia X6 16GB, Nokia 5230, Nokia 5330, Nokia 5800w, Nokia 6700s, Nokia E52 and Nokia E72i.

Mike McGuire, Research Vice President from Gartner feels Nokia’s move of providing DRM-free music in emerging markets is crucial for music industry.

“By getting the Comes with Music service up and running in China, and with India coming on shortly, Nokia is taking important steps in continuing to expand its Comes With Music ecosystem. It’s also playing an important role in developing compelling alternatives for both artists and labels, and consumers.”

Nokia today unveiled its new mobile financial service dubbed as the Nokia Money. The disparity of 4 billion mobile phones and 1.6 billion bank accounts has made Nokia to provide basic financial services that can be accessed from mobile phones. Users will be able to do a lot of things like sending or receiving money that can be collected or deposited at Nokia Money agents, buy movie tickets, pay utility bills, recharge mobile accounts and more.

Nokia Money service will be operated in co-operation with Nokia invested Obopay, which is a global mobile payment solution. In fact, we think this service will work in a way like mChek and ngpay and the only novel factor are the agents.

Nokia is planning to show the service at the Nokia World on Sept 2 & 3 and will roll out gradually from early 2010.
