After getting a semi-official treatment yesterday, Nikon has finally unwrapped the world’s first projector camera, the Coolpix S1000pj. As confirmed before, the camera can project images as large as 40-inches. The camera has a 12.1 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom, 28mm wide-angle lens, sensitivity ranging from ISO 64-6400, 5-way VR image stabilization, Smart Portrait system, 2.7-inch LCD and movie mode.

S1000pj will be available from September for $429.95.

New Nikon cameras have been surfaced on an Australian photography website that also shows the camera-cum-projector which we reported earlier today. The Coolpix S1000pj is the first compact camera that houses a projector and is able to relay images or videos up to 40-inches in size. Making things more projector-friendly, Nikon will also bundle a projector stand and a remote control to operate it.

Regarding S1000pj’s photography capabilities, the camera boasts a 28mm wide angle Nikkor lens supporting 12.1 megapixel resolution and 5x optical zoom. Other features include image stabilization, Smart Portrait System that has face-priority AF, Smile Timer, Blink Proof, auto red-eye rectification and Skin Softening that analyzes and improves the skin tone of the subject.

The S1000pj will cost AU$669 (US$563).
