Google is looking to release the next iteration of Android sometime in second quarter of 2012, reports Digitimes. The website claims information from supply chain makers who say that Android 5.0 aka Jelly Bean will be released soon and will be optimized more for tablets.

Furthermore, the new Android OS will adopt elements from Google’s Chrome OS to suit a device with dual OS. Google will offer manufacturers an option to integrate Android 5.0 alone or go with a configuration supporting Windows 8 that will allow booting into Android without restarting the computer.

The site also says Ice Cream Sandwich OS’ lower than expected result is another reason for the faster rollout of Android 5.0.

HTC is expected to come with plethora of devices at the Mobile World Congress. To be honest, it’s not surprising. The surprising fact, however, is that the Taiwanese company is rumored to launch a music streaming service. This little piece of news comes from GigaOm who says that the company is now working on the pricing plans and other details.

The service will rival Spotify and is said to be backed by Jimmy Iovine, founder of Beats Audio and audio partner for many HTC phones.

HTC already allows streaming of Hollywood movies via its HTC Watch service.

The site also says HTC is gearing up for the trade show in Barcelona to unveil their new tablet, smartphone and possibly a wireless boombox in addition to the music service.

It seems BlackBerry Colt won’t be the first BBX-based device to make its way out. According to the latest grapevine, RIM has reportedly scrapped Colt for London. The image comes by way of The Verge but BGR seems to have more details on the launch, which they believe to be sometime in Q3 next year. That is a long wait but BGR says RIM is still working on bringing native BES and BBM to BBX and is the likely cause of delay.

Nevertheless, the phone is rumored to be powered by a TI OMAP 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 8MP rear facing and 2MP front facing camera.

iPhone may be fluid and intuitive than Android but one thing that sets Android apart from iOS is the integrated Gmail app. Gmail app is nicely done for the Android OS that works as intended with automatic sync, notifications, folders and more.

Good news is that the same Gmail goodness is rumored to come on the iOS. According to MG Siegler’s sources, Google is “on the verge of launching their native Gmail app” for iOS, which has already been submitted to the App Store.

Although Google has a very competent mobile web version of Gmail, the native app will bring one of the most sought feature – notifications as well as some other like starring emails and Priority Inbox.

According to couple of Reuters sources, Apple suppliers have started manufacturing an 8GB iPhone 4 with a Korean company, presumably Samsung, manufacturing the said 8GB flash chips. The decision for a lower capacity iPhone 4 is because Apple wants to reach more consumers at a more affordable price tag.
