Apple is looking to unveil the next-generation iPad early next month. According to a report by All Things D – who by the way have an impeccable record when it comes to Apple news – say the iPad 3 (or whatever it’s called) will be announced in the first week of March in San Francisco and will be available for purchase after a week or so.

When asked for the hardware, the site’s source claimed it will be “pretty much what we’ve been led to expect” like a faster processor, improved graphics, high-resolution Retina Display etc.

It seems BlackBerry Colt won’t be the first BBX-based device to make its way out. According to the latest grapevine, RIM has reportedly scrapped Colt for London. The image comes by way of The Verge but BGR seems to have more details on the launch, which they believe to be sometime in Q3 next year. That is a long wait but BGR says RIM is still working on bringing native BES and BBM to BBX and is the likely cause of delay.

Nevertheless, the phone is rumored to be powered by a TI OMAP 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 8MP rear facing and 2MP front facing camera.

iPhone may be fluid and intuitive than Android but one thing that sets Android apart from iOS is the integrated Gmail app. Gmail app is nicely done for the Android OS that works as intended with automatic sync, notifications, folders and more.

Good news is that the same Gmail goodness is rumored to come on the iOS. According to MG Siegler’s sources, Google is “on the verge of launching their native Gmail app” for iOS, which has already been submitted to the App Store.

Although Google has a very competent mobile web version of Gmail, the native app will bring one of the most sought feature – notifications as well as some other like starring emails and Priority Inbox.

Apple is apparently developing a new iPhone 4 with lower storage memory. According to couple of Reuters sources, Apple suppliers have started manufacturing an 8GB iPhone 4 with a Korean company, presumably Samsung, manufacturing the said 8GB flash chips. The decision for a lower capacity iPhone 4 is because Apple wants to reach more consumers at a more affordable price tag.

Reuters also says Apple is gearing up for the next-generation iPhone which will look similar to the iPhone 4 but will have a larger display, improved cellular reception and 8MP camera.

Asus’ next-generation Transformer 2 will apparently be the first device to be powered Nvidia’s Kal El aka Tegra 3 platform. This piece of news comes via Fudzilla’s “multiple sources” who say Transformer’s successor will be the first one to sport the quad-core SoC before a barrage of devices come in 2012.

Kal El or simply Tegra 3 is packed with features and is expectedly, superior than Tegra 2. Kal El features a powerful quad-core CPU and 12-core Nvidia GPUs, which is 5X better than the Tegra 2.

The launch of PlayBook has given rise to a new speculation about the launch of RIM’s QNX-based smartphone launch. And going by BGR’s sources — who’ve been spot on related to BlackBerry rumors — the first QNX running smartphone is expected in first quarter of next year. The phone is codenamed is BlackBerry Colt and according to the site, RIM will compromise on some features in order to release the phone.

Apparently, RIM will launch Colt with a single-core processor so that it can give a satisfactory battery life. Also, the smartphone won’t support BES initially but will support Microsoft ActiveSync out of the box.

We reckon it will be CES when RIM will unravel the device for the first time.

Samsung was one of the first companies to push 3D with their 3D TVs however, they’re yet to market three-dimensional technology onto mobile devices. Now the word is Samsung is already working on their 3D phone running Android OS.

According to ETNews, Samsung will launch a phone dubbed as Galaxy 3D (tentative name) running Gingerbread OS in the last quarter of 2011. Samsung’s 3D phone will pit against the likes of LG’ Optimus 3D and HTC EVO 3D.
The rumored specs of the phone include a 4.3-inch 3D LCD screen, 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos processor, dual 8MP cameras to capture 3D videos and an HDMI-out to showcase those 3D videos onto 3D HDTVs.

The news is obviously unconfirmed by Samsung but we’ll keep an eye on it if anything substantial surfaces.
