The iPhone-Dev team has released a newer version of redsn0w that supports untethered jailbreak of iOS 4.3.2. Untethered jailbreak means a user wouldn’t lose the jailbreak even after a restart of the device. The jailbreak will work with all iOS devices supporting 4.3.2 including iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch 3G / 4G and iPad 1.

Users relying on the ultrasn0w unlock should wait for PwnageTool expected later this week.

The iPhone Dev team has released new jailbreak tool for devices running iOS 4.3.1. The PwnageTool and redsn0w now brings untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1 devices like iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 (GSM), iPod touch 3G and 4G, iPad 1 and Apple TV 2G. Unfortunately, iPad 2 is still unsupported for a reason that the exploits used by limera1n and SHAtter cannot be used on Apple’s new tablet.

Users wanting to use the ultrasn0w unlock should stay away from the jailbreak until the iPhone Dev team gives the green signal after updating the ultrasn0w to support iOS 4.3.1.

The iPhone Dev team has released a new beta version of redsn0w that will jailbreak iOS 4.0 or 4.1 running iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G devices (tethered for MC models). The jailbreak uses the pwnage2 exploit that will allow to install Cydia using the DFU mode.

Team says users banking on ultrasn0w unlock should stay away from this tool and should rather wait for pwnagetool to support 4.1.

It’s been few hours since iOS 4 went live and here we are with the jailbreak tool from the iPhone Dev team. The updated Redsn0w tool can now jailbreak iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G devices running iOS 4 to allow you to install 3rd party apps outside the Apple App Store.

The tool is available for both Windows and Mac and comes with a fair ‘beta’ warning, which means you’ll need to organize, reload and update Cydia after successfully jailbreaking from redsn0w.

iPhone Dev team has released the final build of its redsn0w jailbreaking tool. The latest v0.9.2 can jailbreak all iPhones and iPod touches and supports v3.x firmware. The jailbreak however, is with a catch as newer models will still have a tethered jailbreak, which means you’ll have to jailbreak again after you completely restart the device.

Redsn0w is recommendable if you’re looking to jailbreak (possibly unlock older models) or don’t want Cydia as an additional download.

As confirmed by O2 UK yesterday, Apple has pushed an update to its iPhone OS 3.0. The new v3.0.1 update fixes the SMS vulnerability that allowed the hacker to gain full control of victim’s iPhone. As for users using jailbreak and unlocking solutions, the iPhone Dev team has given the nod that it’s safe to update the firmware but need to select the 3.0 IPSW when asked.

The iPhone Dev team has updated its jailbreaking and unlocking solutions to v0.8 that integrates iPhone 3GS jailbreaking and unlocking support. Download the redsn0w for Windows, Linux or Mac from the link below and then install Ultrasn0w 0.8 from Cydia. Though we’re not sure, the ultrasn0w unlock should work with purplera1n jailbroken devices since it uses Cydia to download the app.

UPDATE: GeoHot updated the Purplera1n jailbreak with support of Windows Vista, Windows 7 and 64-bit support. The RC2 version also improves payload injection.

We have got the first iPhone 3GS jailbreaking tool dubbed as purplera1n. As you would have got the hint by looking at the tool’s name, this solution is not created by the iPhone Dev team but rather by George Hotz aka GeoHot. Apparently, pissed off by the team’s decision to wait for OS 3.1 made GeoHot release this tool. Any which ways, it’s a major win for 3GSers who have been waiting to do it.

Yes, fellas they did it. After confirming the exploit a couple of days back, they managed to jailbreak the device. However, don’t get your hopes high to get this solution anytime soon because they are holding it back to keep Apple off the exploit that could enable them to patch and close the jailbreak exploit forever. Though iPhone-Dev’s reasoning is sound, I don’t think it would take much time for Apple to patch and end the cat and mouse game once and for all.

Well, you still don’t get the promised ultrasn0w tool yet but the iPhone Dev team has gone ahead and released redsn0w that jailbreaks all the iPhone and iPod Touch devices except iPhone 3G S and even unlocks the first-gen iPhone. The jailbreaking tool is available for Mac OS X via Pwnage Tool and Quickpwn, which in fact also works for Windows.

The latest redsn0w tool however, comes with some strings attached like iPhone 3G users with yellowsn0w unlock should not use it until they release the ultrasn0w that contains the unlocked baseband. Also, as iterated before, the redsn0w will not work with iPhone 3G S, which hints that a special iPhone 3G S ultrasn0w might be under construction.
