What the heck is this? If crazy App Store approval process was not enough, Apple is listing now QuickPWN on their website. The description however reads “for fun games, iPhone and iPod touch news, and important site updates”, which turns out to be the description of an unofficial QuickPWN site. Even though the site is not official, it still publishes content related to jailbreak which Apple is promoting on its own turf.

You were expecting this, weren’t you? The iPhone Dev team have released the new QuickPwn (Win & Mac) and Pwnage (Mac) versions enabling iPhone and iPod Touch 1G users to successfully jailbreak the latest v2.2 firmware. However, the team wants you to be a little cautious before taking the plunge. Mind you this is not the baseband unlock and if you ever want one, you need to install a custom ipsw.

Windows iPhone and iPod Touch users looking to jailbreak the latest 2.1 firmware won’t have to wait now as the smart guys at iPhone Devs have brought the Windows based Quickpwn out of beta to make things easy for you. It can jailbreak both the iPhone generations as well as the first-gen iPod Touch. iPod Touch 2G is not supported yet.

The ever ready Dev Team has released the latest version of Pwnage and QuickPwn. The joy of running third party apps on the latest firmware can be sufficed with these tools. Another good thing about the release is that iTunes 8 need not be pwned to work with it.

The software currently works with iPhone and 1st gen iPod Touch.
