Interesting rumor has hit the web claiming Logitech to prepare a UMD drive accessory for PSPgo owners. Other details regarding the accessory are still sketchy but the source claims it will make the “PSP bulky”.

Logitech is yet to confirm it but it makes me wonder are there enough PSP owners who upgraded from their built-in UMD drive PSPs to only-download PSPgo just for a change in form factor…for a higher price?

Nonetheless, we’ll keep a close eye on this and report back to ya if anything more substantial surfaces.

The teardown specialist is at it again. This time it’s the PSPgo getting the treatment and has not one bit of interesting hardware. iFixit managed to open up easily and found the following:

- No internal framework to keep the innards intact
- Battery is easily replaceable but has a warranty void sticker pasted
- Shockingly, only 802.11b Wi-Fi. No support for G or N.

This clearly looks like a half-hearted attempt from Sony. Whatever the exact reason was, this gives us hope that a new PSP is coming soon. Maybe 2010?

Read the detailed teardown here or check out the video below.

Sony seems to have finally acknowledged iPhone and App Store as their rivals. In a bid to crush or rather give a good fight to the App Store, Sony will be pricing PSPgo games at 1, 2 and 5 Euros. However, one thing here to note is that it won’t be applicable to all the games but only the smaller games or akin to what you find on an App Store.

If the killer pricing is not enough, Sony is reportedly in talks with iPhone developers so as to port existing titles to the PSP hardware, which will include adjusting the screen resolution and porting touch controls to PSP’s physical controls.

Hail FCC because we wouldn’t have known what PSPgo packs inside unless confirmed by Sony or ever interested hackers. Sony Insider unearthed a FCC filing of PSPgo (also referred PSP-N1001) that reveals the processor clock speed of the console. The official specs suggest 333MHz but in reality the maximum clock speed supported by PSPgo is 480MHz, meaning that the current CPU speed is underclocked. This definitely is good news for those going for the console because there’s a high probability Sony might open it up to via a firmware update later on.

Under a week left for the E3 and Ars Technica have got some meaty details from one of their sources regarding the most sought rumors – new PSP and PS3. Apparently, their source who has never gone wrong before claims that the upcoming PSP, dubbed as PSP Go! will be announced at E3 while the PS3 Slim will be out sometime in August or September.

As we guestimated before, the new UMD-less PSP Go! will sell alongside the current PSP generation. Publishers will offer their piece of software on UMDs and also as a digital download to cater to the PSP Go! public. The source did not mention about the specifications but if we recollect from the previous report, it will possess the same graphic hardware, bring in a WVGA touchscreen, 8 or 16GB of storage space and possibly a camera. In short, it will look to compete iPod Touch.

As for the PS3 Slim, their birdie claims it will come after the original PS3 have sold off the shelves. Sony will mostly unveil after retailers are ready to purchase to buy new stock.
