Samsung might be about half a month late but they’ve finally released the impending Omnia HD update. The JB1 firmware is now available for download via PC Studio 7. The firmware brings kinetic scrolling but unfortunately only in some parts of the interface. Other reported improvements are faster web browser, camera settings and other bug fixes.

However, one biggest gripe found in the new firmware is that it leaves the system memory with just 17MB as opposed to around 30MB previously.

As like always, users are advised to backup their data first and update the firmware.

The wait is over. Samsung has officially announced its HD video recording phone Omnia HD in India. For a decent price of Rs. 33,990 and the rich feature set, I think it’s going to be tough for Nokia to justify N97’s price. Anyways, back to Omnia HD, the phone as we know boasts a 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, TouchWiz UI, 8MP camera with 720p video recording, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, DLNA, HSDPA 7.2Mbps, HSUPA 5.7Mbps16GB internal memory with expandable up to 48GB via microSD card, accelerometer, GPS navigation and maps from NAVTEQ and 3D games. Another interesting tidbit is the processor. As per previous reports, it has a 600MHz ARM Cortex A8 but this one is claimed to have a Gigahertz of clockspeed. The proof is here.

Omnia PRO B7320 was also announced today. It’s a smartphone targeted at business-class users. The phone runs on WinMo 6.1 Standard edition but will be upgradeable to WinMo 6.5 later on, 528MHz processor, 256MB ROM and RAM, 3G, 3MPcamera, GPS, Wi-Fi, Office Suite, microSD slot (up to 16GB) and 1480mAh battery. It will go for Rs. 16,500.

Samsung has added five touchscreen phones in its Get in Touch with Samsung Mobile portfolio – S8300 Ultra Touch, Omnia HD, Beat DJ, Beat Disc and Blue Earth. S8300 and Blue Earth have got special mentions previously so we would rather delve in the mysterious three that were spotted on a billboard yesterday.

Omnia HD (I8910) looks one helluva device with 8MP sensor, HD (720p) video recording and 3.7-inch AMOLED display. While Beat DJ (M7600) and Beat Disc (M6710) doesn’t specify about Bang & Olufsen sound, it does confirm of a so-called Disc UI with DJ turntable software.
