If you’re gripped with the Olympic fever then Bird’s Nest audio player is a must buy for you. Every other Olympic themed gadget shouts itself a must buy but this one definitely takes the cake because it apes the 500 million USD stadium. On the front sports a lovely LCD to show the current playing status and the rear, making the way for the Beijing Olympics logo along with the music controls. This player isn’t expensive too considering with other special edition gadgets and starts with a modest $20 for 1GB and going to $24 for 2GB and $33 for 4GB.

Olympic Games kicks off this Friday. Though our spirits are high as the athletes, the only thing that can dampen this world event are the rains. But the Chinese department of Weather Modification seems to have the solution to keep the stadium dry. There will be defense rings setup along a certain distance to make clouds cry prematurely or stop it altogether making it light enough to disappear in the atmosphere.

This piece of tech will keep the Olympic Games and Beijing dry but can China suffer a backlash by going against the nature?

With an avalanche of Olympic themed products in the market, we wondered if iPhone would ever make the cut. Well, we were proved wrong until De Vere’s from the Queen’s country announced their way of commemorating Olympics… with iPhone. No don’t expect some gaudy wallpapers or any other customized content of Olympics in here because the only thing companies think of sprucing up iPhones are by sticking diamonds. The diamond collection on the phone varies from 28 for rich, 88 for super rich and 168 for super duper rich. How you arrange them is your choice but see to it that the total numbers of diamonds on each side end with digit 8. What, you didn’t know its significance? 8 is an auspicious number according to Chinese tradition which means accumulate wealth and that is why this year’s Olympics kicks from 08/08/08. Got it?

De Vere’s surely follow the Chinese tradition because after they sell you their idea of diamonds they would be accumulating your wealth too. Anyways, the 28 diamond version will cost $3376, 88 diamonds for $8224 and 168 one for $15493. Oh, did we mention these prices exclude the cost of iPhone?

Samsung Electronics who is the official wireless communication partner for this year’s Beijing Olympics has gifted 1000 G618 Olympic to Chinese Olympians. The phones carry Olympic themed ringtones and wallpapers and will be the official phone for China. Considering from the marketing perspective, these phones wouldn’t have cost them much as the ROI will be more in terms of brand recall and brand value. With this agreement, Samsung can use an athlete photo for promoting their products and also oblige Chinese gold medalists to visit their PR center for a signature event.
