Dell Streak’s official carrier in UK, O2 has confirmed that they’ll start rolling out the Android 2.1 update for the internet device from September 1. The Éclair update for Streak is a prerequisite for it to be upgradeable to Froyo in the coming months.

However, US Streak consumers will still have to make it work with Android 1.6 as AT&T hasn’t revealed any date for the update.

UPDATE: Orange will also offer the iPad in UK, France, Spain and Switzerland.

Vodafone and O2 have confirmed to bring the iPad to the United Kingdom. The international version of iPad will be launched in May and UK will be one of the first countries to receive. As for the device, both Vodafone and O2 plans to offer “dedicated iPad price plans”, which means a 3G-equipped iPad along with Wi-Fi only iPad will be offered on sale.

A new leak and a bit of sleuthing by BGR have confirmed that Motorola DROID’s GSM version will be known as MILESTONE. A German blog leaked an O2 doc showing off the MILESTONE’s price while BGR unearthed an official picture lurking on the O2 website. The features except the swapping of the cellular radios are expected to be same.

It will arrive in Germany for Euros 404 or USD 595.

HTC HD2 aka Leo has got its first semi-official sighting. Someone passed over an image of O2 UK’s in-store catalog that shows HD2 in full glory. Touted as the phone with the largest screen (which stands at 4.3-inches), the phone is expected to get a UK release on October 26. As for other features, the phone will be powered by 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, WinMo 6.5 OS, 5MP camera with dual LED flash, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, A-GPS, 3.5mm earphone jack and microSD card slot.

Orange UK today announced to sell iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS later this year, putting an end to the exclusivity that O2 enjoyed these couple of years.

Orange is yet to decide the pricing and the exact availability date but it’s definitely good news for those who want to use iPhone but don’t want to switch on O2.

Orange, the largest 3G network in UK will be selling iPhone via all direct channels including online, shops and telesales. Interested users can pre-register to be notified of future developments.

Palm and its European network affiliate had assured a holiday release but a Pre fansite is claiming to have the exact date of the Pre launch in UK. According to the PalmWebOSBlog, the launch date will be October 30, which if true, goes well with the ‘October release’ banner that was sighted on O2 Germany’s site.

As for the pricing, the site does not say the exact amount but claims to be in line with iPhone, presumably 3GS. Since O2 is the official carrier of the Pre and the iPhone in UK, it will be logical to price them equally so as not to hamper any device’s sales due to price factor.

Palm has announced their GSM band equipped Pre is Europe bound. UK, Ireland, Germany and Spain will be the first European countries to get the device and will hit retail shelves just in time to make the most from the upcoming holiday season. The phone will arrive on O2 and Movistar networks.

We would rather wait for the official word here but Spanish media is reporting that Telefonica has scored a deal with Palm to exclusively sell their upcoming Pre. Pegged to come in before summer, the Spaniards are expected to get it from Telefonica, Latin Americans from Movistar and O2 to do the honors for UK.

The other two media players announced after S9 Curve are the O2 and L3. O2 measures approximately 5-inches in breadth, 3-inches in height and has a slim profile of just 0.7-inches which makes it highly pocketable. It sports a 4.3-inch touch screen sans capacitive and has storage options starting from 8GB up to 32GB.
