Nokia today unveiled the 808 PureView that touts a 41 megapixel camera sensor. As exciting it may sound, one important thing to note here is that the phone does not really capture a 41MP image but uses pixel oversampling technique which combines many pixels to create a single super pixel that results in a highly detailed picture without the usual visual noise from the image. For a better understanding on Nokia’s PureView imaging technology, check out this page and the whitepaper here.

Apart from that, the 808 PureView can also capture videos in full HD 1080p resolution and features a 4-inch nHD (640×360) AMOLED ClearBlack display, up to 14.4Mbps HSDPA, Bluetooth 3.0, HDMI, DLNA, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, NFC, 16GB internal memory, Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 channel sound and runs Symbian Belle OS.
