It has taken good nine months but it is finally official – Motorola Mobility is now a part of Google Inc. Google is yet to reveal the future plans but has confirmed that Sanjay Jha will step down as CEO and Dennis Woodside will take his place instead.

Back in August, Google bought the Motorola spin-off for $12.5 billion or $40 per share. Google is expected to run Motorola as a separate unit.

Google has started rolling out its latest Ice Cream Sandwich update for Samsung’s Nexus devices and Motorola’s Xoom. The Android 4.0.4 will be available to Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S and Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi users in the coming weeks as an OTA update that will bring improved stability along with better camera performance, smoother screen rotation, improved phone number recognition etc.

Disappointingly, CDMA-based Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus users will have to wait since this update applies only for GSM devices.

Motorola has finally announced the successor(s) of its first Xoom tablet. The Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition tablets go for a different set of crowds with the Xoom 2 going for the suits whereas Xoom 2 Media Edition targeted at consumers for leisure activities.

However, despite this little segregation both tablets are packed with features like Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and 1.3MP and 5MP HD cameras with autofocus. The differentiations begin from the screen size with Xoom 2 matching Xoom’s 10.1-inch whereas Xoom 2 Media Edition measuring 8.2-inches. Both are HD-supporting displays but Media Edition’s display is better suited for wide viewing angles. Also, the Xoom 2 is heavier than the Media Edition that weighs 113g more and 4 hours of extra battery life than Media Edition’s 6 hours.

Motorola will release the Wi-Fi-only variant of both the tablets in UK from mid-November.

In addition to unveiling the sleek and sexy Moto RAZR, Motorola also announced a new lifestyle device that combines fitness tracking and music player in one. Dubbed as MOTOACTV, the device is reminiscent to Apple’s iPod nano but comes with a belt that allows wearing on a wrist.

MOTOACTV is equipped with AccuSense and GPS that tracks exact time, distance, speed, heart rate and calories burned which then can be uploaded on motoactv.com.

As for its music prowess, MOTOACTV comes in capacity of 8 or 16GB that can store up to 4,000 songs and has a smart music player that learns what tracks motivate the user by measuring the performance against the music. Moreover, there’s FM Radio as well, in case a user does not want to hear the loaded music.

Other features include a 1.6-inch touchscreen display with Gorilla Glass, Bluetooth 4.0, Android device sync support to receive incoming calls and messages and up to 10 hours of battery life.

MOTOACTV is currently on pre-order for $249 (8GB) and $299 (16GB) respectively and will be available from November 6.

Motorola has inadvertently spilled an image of their upcoming Droid phone. Motorola was teasing the device on their site but disclosed the phone in all its glory. Dubbed as Droid RAZR, the phone looks to be one of the slimmest LTE Droids around. We’re still light on the full specs but it seems the phone has a big screen (possibly 4-inches) with two cameras that support HD video recording and the usual touch-sensitive Android buttons.

Motorola will unveil the phone today.
