Motorola announces Flipout with Motoblur, Android OS 2.1

Motorola has announced a new Android device dubbed as the Flipout. The Flipout has a unique square design that swivels out to unveil the physical QWERTY keyboard beneath it. Flipout runs Android 2.1 and features Motorola’s Motoblur UI. Motoblur brings all user contacts, their photos, social networking statuses on the home screen for easy access.

Additionally, the phone features seven customizable home screens, live wallpapers, five-row QWERTY keyboard, microSD card slot, 3MP camers, 2.8-inch touchscreen, FM Radio, Wi-Fi, GPS.

The phone will be available in Europe starting this month.

Motorola announces DEVOUR for Verizon

Verizon has got its first phone from Motorola running Moto’s MOTOBLUR. Dubbed as DEVOUR, the phone will take advantage of Verizon’s superior 3G to deliver content synced with MOTOBLUR. For the uninitiated, MOTOBLUR brings contacts, social networking, e-mails, chat logs everything under one roof.

As for the features, Motorola is yet to spill out the full specs but this is what has been confirmed till now – 3.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, horizontal sliding QWERTY keyboard, Android Market, pre-installed 8GB microSD card, Bluetooth and touch sensitive navi pad.

The phone will start retailing in March at an undisclosed price.

Motorola unveils CLIQ/DEXT with MOTOBLUR UI

As expected, at the Mobilize conference Motorola unveiled its Android strategy that will be help them gain foothold in the mobile handset market. To start with, they’ve developed a new Android UI dubbed as the MOTOBLUR that basically syncs contacts, e-mails, SMS, social statuses etc. to show it on the user’s home screen. MOTOBLUR also keeps a check on the user’s contacts and syncs their updated info, like showing the contact’s recently updated profile picture along with their latest status update while making or receiving a call. Another interesting thing MOTOBLUR integrates is the remote wipe-off function.

Packing this promising UI is the new phone known as CLIQ in US or DEXT for the rest of the world. In US, it will be a T-Mobile exclusive. The feature set of CLIQ includes a 3.1-inch 320×480 HVGA touchscreen display, quad-band GSM support, 3G, Wi-Fi, full sliding QWERTY, 5MP autofocus camera, Bluetooth, GPS, HTML browser, 3.5mm audio jack, microSD card slot up to 32GB and radio.

The CLIQ/DEXT will arrive just in time for holidays.
