HP’s Mini family got a new member in the form of Mini 1000 netbook. Though HP seems to be excited by the addition of three new netbooks, these are actually different variants of the Mini 1000. The variants are – HP Mini 1000, Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam Edition and Mini 1000 with MIE.

The common specifications for all these models include Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, up to 2GB RAM, Ethernet jack, two USB ports, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. HP has not compromised on the size of the keyboard too. The Mini 1000 keyboard retains 92 percent the size of a regular notebook keyboard.

The first and the cheapest in the line is Mini 1000 with MIE that stands for Mobile Internet Experience. It is priced at $379 and features a LED-backlit display with screen size options of 8.9-inch and 10.2-inch. It is the Linux version of the netbook that comes with a piano-black finish with HP Imprint swirl design.

The Mini 1000 sits nicely between the two offerings. It offers the same bells and whistles as MIE but adds Windows XP and option of SSD to the mix. It will sell for $399.

The Vivienne Tam Edition is the expensive of the lot which will go for $699 a piece. Basically targeted at the fairer sex because of the vibrant red hue with a peony-flower inspired design. This one runs XP and comes with a 10.2-inch display.

HP 1000 is up for grabs but the Vivienne Tam and Mini 1000 with MIE are scheduled to retail from mid-December and January respectively.
