Taiwanese company LiteOn IT has decided to shed its OEM route for digital frames and come out with its own brand. Under the brand name Skyla, LiteOn will now be selling Memoir, a digital frame with a built-in scanner. The scanner helps to digitize old hard copy photos (no larger than 4 by 6 inches) and view them onto the digital frame or store on its memory.

The digital frame’s specification include an 8-inch screen with a resolution of 800×400 pixels, 1GB internal memory and expandable via a slew of memory cards. Scanning resolution goes up to 600dpi and is done with a touch of button placed below. It also has 2 USB ports to use it with PC or to backup scanned photos.

LiteOn expects it to sell it just in time before Christmas with a price tag of $220.
