HP released their latest MediaSmart home servers, EX485 and EX487 in the US market. Apart from offering automatic backup facility for the Windows PCs, the new home servers will also support Mac systems which will use OS X’s Time Machine feature.

Glenn Roberts, product marketing manager at HP claims Mac is now a “first-class citizen” like Windows which can do automatic backups of photos, videos, data as well as stream music via iTunes.

Both, EX485 and EX487 will sell for $599 and $749 respectively with the only difference in their storage size – 750GB for the cheaper variant while 1.5TB for the expensive one. The common set involves Intel Celeron 2.0GHz 64-bit processors and 2GB RAM.
