Microsoft has unveiled the release date for users to procure the Windows 7 RTM code. They have segregated the users on the basis of when they’ll receive the RTM copy. A partner, developer or an OEM will be able to download the OS from as early as August 6. If you happen to be a member of the Microsoft Partner Network, you’ll receive it on August 16 while Action Pack subscribers will get it from August 23.

Microsoft also confirmed the Family Pack offer for Windows 7. The Family Pack of the Home Premium SKU will be available in select markets that will allow users to install OS on up to 3 PCs. The eligibility or the pricing details are still kept under wraps but the last we heard it will be hovering around $150.

Microsoft will be offering a Family Pack of Windows 7 Home Premium for users having more than a single computer in their household. Though the announcement is yet to be confirmed, a bit a sleuthing of an agreement in recently leaked Home Premium build reveals it. Apparently, Microsoft will sell the packs to “Qualified Family Pack Users” where they’ll be eligible to install the OS on three different machines in the same household. The intrinsic details like pricing or availability are still under wraps but we expect it to roll out soon.
