When LG Electronics revealed their creation, they let the pricing remain a mystery until the launch. And now as the launch is imminent this month, LG let the cat out of the bag albeit with a name change.

The KP500 phone will now be known as Cookie and this Cookie will sell for around $230. Hats off to LG for pricing it just right which can prove a deterrent to 5800 XpressMusic sales in future in price sensitive markets because of the almost identical feature set.

Sharp Electronics latest creation is a head turner. They revealed the new DX range of Aquos TVs which are touted to be the world’s first TV sets to sport an integrated Blu-Ray recorder. The DX series spans six different sizes starting from a decent 26-inch to go up to 52-inch. For later viewing pleasure, a user can put in a BD disc in the recorder (located at the back) to record content on the go. It can also record content on DVDs as well as CDs.

The 52-inch to 37-inch sets sport a full HD resolution while the remaining two variants – 32-inch and 26-inch have to be sufficed with a hi-vision resolution of 1,366 × 768 pixels.

Sharp will initially launch this series in Japan on November 20 followed by the other regions in early next year.

The world knows the Jazz LCD TV better by the name of LG80. LG Electronics announced the 32-inch and 42-inch full HD Television sets which has some nice features on the audio front. First and foremost is its peculiar auto sliding speakers which automatically spurts out to make you hear the audio. Other things it boasts are the 500w speakers with 3.1 channel surround sound and built-in woofers. All this has been tuned strategically placed by audio expert Mr. Mark Levinson who claims to show no signs of distortion even at the maximum volume.

LG has equally emphasized on the video quality. The TV has a 50000:1 contrast ratio and can display pictures at 1080p resolution. That’s Full HD for you. Two HDMI 1.3 ports are included and so are a USB port for quick access to music and a card reader to view images and videos.

Both the TVs will be available soon in retail outlets for Rs. 50,000 or USD1082 (32LG80) and Rs. 85,000 or USD1840 (42LG80).

LG unveiled its first netbook X110 at the IFA a few days back. And as a company would expect, they are getting a good amount of press attention but not because of their first launch but for the resemblance X110 bears with MSI Wind. It is argued that the outer shell is slightly differently designed but the placement of the ports as well as the specs is questionable. Although LG’s variant is 3G ready, other features are pretty identical like a 10-inch screen, 1.6GHz processor, 80GB HDD, Wi-Fi, 3 USB ports, 1.3 megapixel camera and card reader slot. The placement of the ports are also same.

Hitachi in Japan will be launching the next wave of refrigerators which can do that extra bit to keep the food fresh and vitalized. Out of the six refrigerators planned to hit the retail shelves this month, R-Y6000 and R-Y5400 are the most advanced of them all. The interesting feature here is the vacuum chilled room. The vacuum sucks air from the freezer to deoxidize the food and also emit antioxidant vitamins from the Vitamin Cassette placed at the back of chilled room. The R-Y6000 will cost Yen 340,000 or USD 3,137.

The megapixel war is back with LG being the third company to throw their 8-megapixel phone in the fray. The powerpacked KC910 is Viewty’s successor and boasts Schneider-Kreuznach sensor with Xenon flash. It can record video at 30fps and slow motion QVGA vids at 120fps. LG decided to put in all the four GSM bands with 3G/HSDPA in the mix. The phone looks chic with just three buttons on the face while the rest is taken by a vivid 2.8-inch screen capable of producing 262K colors with an active resolution of 240X400 pixels.

LG has also considered the media aspect of the phone and threw in DivX, Xvid support with Dolby for crisp audio. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth 2.0, USB and support for TV-out and microSD expandable memory.

The phone will be released commercially in October at an undisclosed price.

Not only me but sportspersons, gamers and everyone on this earth who can wear their newest invention in the world of wearable electronics. The project known as Context consists of a vest which can measure the stress levels of the person. It works with the help of sensors which are embedded in the vest so that it can track down even the minute muscle tension.

Biomedical scientists stumbled on the idea of creating a vest after their subjects induced stress because of their tests which wanted to affix electrodes on the person’s chest. The researchers are also contemplating on creating a special vest for computer games wherein the gamer can selectively tense the torso muscles and use the vest to control figures on the monitor.

The last idea sounds lame but developing a stress vest could actually help me know how much stress can I take from blogging.

This consists of sensors woven into the fabric that register the electrical excitation of the muscle fibers, and thin conducting metallic fibers that pass the signals to an electronic analysis system. People’s muscle tension changes with their stress level – the greater the stress, the more likely the muscles are to produce a synchronous twitching effect.
